I read all the reviews here before i purchased this product. Some were saying it was "sugar water" and doesn't work. (Said it was suppose to be bitter in taste and not sweet). The bottle says right on it that the vegetable glycerin used in the extract has a sweet taste. The plant, itself, also has a sweet fragrance (i did research based on that particular review). I thought, okay, turns out the review is wrong so this is a good value for the lower price. It technically still is true...BUT, a little education goes a long way. Only after the fact did i research the difference between alcohol extracts and vegetable glycerin. The review about the sweet taste being sugar water, and not working, is partially wrong and partially right. They are wrong in saying it's totally bunk sugar water. The fact other people are saying it cured their symptoms, along with the fact i googled that it was suppose to taste sweet, convinced me to buy this product. The seller is legitimate also. A third party rated the seller across all their products and they were given 4.7 out 5 (so I trusted the seller). BUT, what i didn't know, was that vegetable glycerin is, in fact, shown in studies to yield a lower extraction of the medicinal elements of the plant than alcohol. So the review about it supposing to taste bitter, and buying a "more effective" version, is only true in that they likely bought the alcohol extraction version of this product (hence, the bitter taste) which also was likely more expensive, too, because the extraction yield of the medicine is higher in alcohol - so you get what you pay for. Vegetable glycerin is used in extracts for people who are either sensitive to alcohol or for children. This seller is, however, the real product. This is NOT sugar water. The potency is just not as strong as the alcohol extract...and, therefore, the product was priced lower. So this product was priced and delivered as advertised. Just wish i knew a little bit about the difference between vegetable glycerin and alcohol extracts before i bought it. Not disappointed. I didn't lose money. Just means i have to take more of it for the same effect.

It's hard to rate supplements. I tried it for interstitial cystitis, to treat possible hidden bladder infection. It did not flare up my IC, but I can't say it helped...may be just a little, not sure. I am taking other supplements too. This Cryptolepis, Marshmallow root powder and aloe vera capsules taken together for several weeks gave me some improvement. My pain is down from 10 to 5. Some supplements are supposed to be taken for a long time to work, and I only used half a bottle of this. It tastes good, a bit sweet actually. I tried CSA ( Cryptolepis, Sida, Alchornea) that I bought on etsy.com and it gave me a huge IC flare!

This Cryptolepis tincture is one of the few herbal supplements that has actually reduced my chronic sinusitis symptoms to a significant degree, and with no side effects that I can detect after 5 days of use. The tincture also arrived quickly, and as expected. My sinusitis was diagnosed as a bacterial infection, and this cryptolepis tincture is helping tide me over till surgery by basically banishing the exhausted, sick feeling the infection was generating for hours at a time each day. I will note that it only cut down on the sinus pressure and congestion a little, but a daily sinus rinse can be used to ease those symptoms further. Overall, I would highly recommend Maui Herbs, and this product in particular.

Health concerns

UPDATE: Okay the next one I got did not have the leaky issue. This is after 2 weeks of using. The product itself works greatly and definitely does what it's suppose to. ■■■■■■■ Previous Review It was working as intended but the bottle dropper had a small barely noticeable crack that got bigger, a lot was spilled out and now I have to buy more to continue my treatment. About the 3rd day I shook it up to mix it as directed I noticed liquid coming out. I initially taped it up but the crack still proceeded to expand all the way around the sides and continued to spill out inside the tape when shaken. I can't recommend it because a products container should contain the product.

It helps me cleaning off my stomach of any undesirables. Easy to use.

I use this tincture in tandem with cats claw, and andrographis for Lyme disease. So far it really kicks spirochete butt. Unfortunately, it kicks mine too, but that's to be expected with this awful disease. Taste is good and quality seems much stronger than the researched nutritionals my doctor had prescribed at a lovely mark up of about 150% in comparison to this product. I wish I had found this sooner, but luckily I found a better doctor soon after who cares more about healing me, and less about me lining their pockets with my money. If you don't herx you probably got a dud.

I really like the Alcohol-free Cryptoleptis tincture. I bought it to help with my Lyme & other tick borne illnesses, and I believe it’s helping me a lot. I’ve tried many other approaches (antibiotics, herbs) but they either didn’t work very well, or caused a lot of unwanted side effects. This product does not have a bad taste, and didn’t give me any nasty side effects. I also love that it’s alcohol free, as I am very sensitive to alcohol! I’m Going to continue to buying & using this brand.

UPDATED REVIEW 1st 2 oz bottle gave me bad Hives & G.I. issues within 1st 2 doses. I stopped & started again 3 times & side effects every time. I had already purchased a 4 oz bottle before I began the 2 oz as lightening sake. So I opened the 4 oz and do not have this issue with 4 oz. It's a problem with the 2 oz I'm certain. 1ST REVIEW Tastes exact same as my prior brand. Prior brand not GMP CERTIFIED like this one. I like GMP CERTIFICATION. I like MEASUREMENTS on the DROPPER. I've bought top brands of various herbal extracts over time & THIS IS 1ST BRAND TO LABEL MEASUREMENTS ON DROPPER ! VERY PROFESSIONAL. Taking regularly for CHRONIC LYME. Ease of use

I had some strange mould and Lyme's stuff going on. It managed to knock down one of them. But, I had to stop for some reason (some of this stuff takes a while to get rid of, refer to research and health care recommendations). I tried an alcohol based tincture of it instead, and it didn't work so well, I think I had issues with the alcohol or something in that one, but this worked the best (maybe the base it uses was helping).
